Texas A&M Engineering News is the main printed newsletter from Texas A&M’s College of Engineering. As the newsletter’s designer, I met the challenge of making technical research stories look reader-friendly with eye-catching typography and attractive photographs and graphics. Each issue is full color and is 16 pages long.

Ocean.US

IOOS Ocean.US web site

The National Office for Integrated and Sustained Ocean Observations was established by the Congressionally-created National Oceanographic Partnership Program. The web site was revamped to feature an animated overview of the office’s goals and a streamlined navigation for ease of use by many different audiences and constituencies.
My role: Web design and layout; site navigation planning; Flash module design and creation; initial creation of news content management system. Others provided: Content management system implementation; insertion of content; logo design; photography.

Famous Trees of Texas

Famous Trees of Texas logo

I designed this logo and web site for the Texas Forest Service’s Famous Trees of Texas. The site showcases trees that hold records or were part of Texas’ frontier history.

A popular book of the same name was last produced in the 1970s; this site replaces the book and allows users to search by county, species, or historical topic, and provides maps and directions to the trees.

My role: Graphic design, web page creation, site mapping. Others provided content, database development, and site building.

Brazos Writers is a community group where writers exchange ideas, learn about the craft, and mentor others. The group’s web site allows volunteers to easily update all the pages, including the ever-changing list of meetings and special events, via acontent management system.

My role: Web design, layout and creation; content management setup. Others provided: logo design, design concept.

Cezanne

This web site designed for independent singer-songwriter Cezanne’s 2004 album captures the thoughtfulness and emotional sincerity of his lyrics. Now based in New York, Cezanne has performed at the legendary CBGB’s and other Manhattan venues.

Aging Aircraft

I designed a logo, web site, brochure, and freestanding display for a research group specializing in upgrading and revitalizing the nation’s fleet of older aircraft. The retro design uses a patriotic color palette and a pixelated background.
